In a complex world I often have a thirst for simplicity, and to take a step back in time when it would seem in today's terms that we had nothing, and yet we perhaps had so much more. A drawing inspired by my own reference photograph from many years ago; a modern day journey in my studio exploring the past, with the help of my candidly willing subject who now is, or would have been, also 25 years older. Not knowing his life's story leading up to, or beyond that point, puts my own insignificance to other people in perspective.
